A Finding Glamour Models Trifecta

Where do I find my glamour photography models? That’s a question I get asked lot. Finding glamour models is as easy or difficult as you want to make it. If you work at it methodically and consistently, you’ll discover really good models will find you.

ex-speedlightToday’s Model Monday post is the next in the series that offers some real-world suggestions on some of the best ways to find glamour models.

Secret Number 3: Let everybody know you’re looking for models. Start by showing your print portfolio/website to everybody. Show it to your neighbors, show it to other photographer/friends, and show it to the waitress at Denny’s. If people know you’re looking for aspiring or amateur models, they can refer models to you.

Secret Number 4: Ask them to tell a friend. Another source of glamour models referrals is from other models you’ve photographed. At the end of every shoot, I give each model several of my business cards and ask her to hand them to any friends who might be interested even if that person never thought about modeling. Some photographers give money to models for anybody that they refer and I’ve tried this method and it didn’t work for me.

Tamelia-windowlthis model was the friend of a model I had previously photographed and she had seen and liked many of her friend’s photos, so she called and asked for a test shoot. This is from our first photo session together. As you can tell, she’s a natural. Exposure for the photograph was made in the north-facing bay window in the kitchen of my previous home using available light and fill flash from an EX430 speedlite with Sto-Fen diffuser attached. Exposure with a Canon EOS 50D and EF 28-105mm zoom lens (at 105mm) was 1/60 sec at f/4.5 and ISO 200.
