Wordless Wednesday #031: “Maroon Bells in the Fall ”

The Maroon Bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains, Maroon Peak (14,156 ft) and North Maroon Peak (14,014 ft) that are separated by about a third of a mile. The mountain is on the border between Pitkin County and Gunnison County, Colorado, about 12 miles southwest of Aspen. Photograph was made several years ago on October 2—Mary Farace’s birthday—and was the first snow of the season.
