New Manfrotto Bags from Photo Plus Expo
Business Fridays goes on hiatus for 2013. In its place, I’ll be showing new products that you should find useful and could also make wonderful holiday gifts for yourself or a friend. Since you can never have too many camera bags, let’s kick of the series with some brand new ones…
At 2013 PhotoPlus Expo, Manfrotto launched two new camera bag lines, including an Advanced line for photographers who need room for camera gear and personal items and the Pro line, for professionals who need to carry pro SLR’s, lenses, speedlight, laptop, tripod and accessories.
Both lines feature classy Italian design and vary in size and weight to meet the demands of different kinds of shooters. The Advanced line has 12 models including backpacks, slings, holsters and shoulder bags, while the Pro line consists of 14 models, including backpacks, holsters, shoulder bags, and roller bags. Both lines have comfortable lightweight designs with sturdy protective inner dividers, allowing for customizable layouts.
Advanced bags include a tripod holder and vented back panels for maximum comfort. Pro line bags incorporate a Camera Protection System compartment in the center of each bag and have rigid multi-layered Exo-Tough construction with thermo-formed areas to protect gear. The backpacks, rollers and shoulder bags have reinforced feet for even more protection. The bags are covered in durable quality fabrics with ergonomically designed zipper pulls. There’s also a rain cover for wet or snowy days.
I had a chance to put five bags through their paces and took them with me to the last Cameras & Coffee meetup and everybody there was impressed with the Manfrotto bag’s quality construction and practical design. The Advanced Shoulder Bag IV can carry a compact SLR with standard zoom as well as a few small accessories such as batteries and memory cards. It has detachable shoulder strap, top carry handle with an easy throw zipper that opens the front flap. When the weather turns, you can use the included rain cover.
The Professional Shoulder bag 30 holds a Pro SLR with battery grip and 70-200 f/2.8 lens attached, 3 extra lenses, backup body, speedlight, tablet, 11-inch laptop and accessories. The Professional Backpack 30 is designed for a Pro SLR with battery grip and 70-200 f/2.8 lens attached, backup camera body, three extra lenses, speedlight, tablet, laptop and accessories.
The Advanced Active Backpack I will hold a SLR system with two standard lenses, 15-inch laptop as well as personal items and accessories. The bag has four zippered compartments with the top part designed to hold personal items and the bottom for photo gear including speedlight, laptop, documents and iPad. The Advanced Tri Backpack Medium offer three ways to store, carry and use your gear: backpack, sling bag or “X” position with straps across your chest so you can swing the pack to your left or right side by releasing quick release buckles. It’ll hold a pro SLR with battery grip, attached mid-range zoom plus 3-4 extra lenses, speedlight, media cards and has space for 11-inch laptop or tablet. There are two external zippered pockets that let you retrieve accessories without having to open the main compartments. The front of the pack contains tripod straps for a small field tripod.
