Micro Four-thirds – It Was Love at First Sight
Special guest post by Mark Toal
Valentine’s Day was last week and I have to admit that I fell in love. I’ve been flirting with and dating the Panasonic Lumix GH3 since it was first introduced last November. Every time I had to send it back to Panasonic I was heartbroken. On Valentine’s Day I decided to part ways with my GH2 and a Nikon 80-200mm lens that I owned and buy the GH3.
People tried to tell me she was going to be too big or too fast, but I am here to tell you they are wrong. I charged the battery and headed out to the local tram here in Portland to see how it felt to use the Lumix GH3 in everyday situations. I was feeling almost young and giddy when we got to the coffee shop at the top of tram ride. When the waitress gave me a free cup of coffee because I looked like a senior citizen I was quickly deflated, but the GH3 didn’t let me down.
This is not meant to be a technical review of the GH3 or a comparison to other cameras. I work for Panasonic so I’m more than a little partial to their cameras. If future blogs I’m sure I’ll write about the camera’s technical details like high ISO quality and burst speed, but today I’m just enjoying that feeling that only comes from buying a new camera. I hope you enjoy the first few sample images.
