How Did You Make That Shot? Part II

glamour photography, Alice in gold

For this shot a Multiblitz Profilux 250 monolight with 32-inch Multiblitz umbrella was placed at camera right, while the Profilux 500 with 32-inch Multiblitz umbrella is located at camera left and at the back of my in-home studio Background is Silverlake Photo’s new “Rough Diamond” Colorsmack background (that I turned vertically) while the floor is covered with their “Marble” faux floor. After I made the shot, I was talking with Silverlake Photo who gave me this tip: When using the faux floor with one of their backgrounds is a good idea to let the background roll onto the floor and then place the background on top of that. It gives a nice clean and sharp edge unlike where I just brought the background down on top of the floor.

The exposure from a Canon EOS 5D with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens was 1/125 sec at f/9 and ISO 100. The lens was set at 60mm enabling me to shoot full-length in my 11×15 foot home studio. © Joe Farace
