Happy Birthday Charlie Brown

They say it’s your birthday
It’s my birthday too, yeah
They say it’s your birthday
We’re gonna have a good time—McCartney & Lennon

My birthday is on Sunday and I think that it’s interesting that I was born in National Photo Month, although I don’t think it was celebrated back when I was born. The headline has an obvious Peanuts theme. If you didn’t already know it, I’m a Peanuts fan, especially a Snoopy collector and my most prized collectible is a 50th birthday card that was sent to me by Charles M. Schulz.

Now straddling geezerdom and the wisdom that comes with old age, I want to use this blog to share some of the useful photography tidbits and tips that  helped me over the past thirty plus years. By the way, that’s also me in 1955 (or thereabouts) on the right climbing the steps of the Washington Monument in DC with my camera bag stuffed with a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye slung over my shoulder.

I still feel like I am learning something new about photography each day and try to take one new picture a day, although I sometimes have a little trouble with the latter. Learning something new every day is not as much of a challenge because the wonderful profession and hobby of photography is constantly changing these days with new cameras, new lenses, and new software that are all designed (as I see it) to let us all have more fun with photography.

And that’s my birthday wish for you—Have fun with your photography!
