2012: A New Year, New Rules

I want to say a big thank you to all my friends from Twitter and Facebook who visit this blog, as well as other readers who get to Saving the World, One Pixel @ a Time from other sources. Thanks to all of you—without you there would be no blog. I appreciate your support as well as that of the sponsors on the right-hand side of the page that makes all this possible. If you are in need of any of the products and services these sponsors offer I’d appreciate your taking a look at their offerings before making a purchase decision. All of these companies are ones that I have personally worked with over the years and actively use their products and services and know they will treat you with respect as a customer. So what’s coming in 2012?

Blog: Small evolutionary changes will be happening here. For openers, I will begin a new series of posts called Video Q&A where I will answer your questions about photography—one question at a time. This is currently in the works with my Web architect Tim Fiedler and look for the first one sometime in January. In the meantime you can begin the process by clicking on CONTACT above. I can’t promise to answer every question, but will do my best.

Podcasts: Also coming in 2012, will be a series of Pixel Podcasts that will include interviews with photographers about how they became the person and shooter they are. I’ll also be appearing on other podcasts during the year and if you’re following me on Twitter or are a Facebook friend, you know when and where.

Books: I will be launching two new books in 2012. Available Light Glamour will be special because of it’s full of down to earth advice:  This book picks up where Joe Farace’s Glamour Photography lets off and is the perfect one-two punch for the new glamour photographer or the aspiring pro who wants to work within this challenging genre. The second book is Posing for Portrait and Glamour Photography. Photographing people is a collaborative effort between photographer and subject. But it’s also an  encyclopedia of posing tips from A to Z on that will get a reader started with a subject while they explore variations on that pose while making sure they look great before the camera.Look for a free book giveaway that’s simple to enter and win: Just follow me on Twitter (click that big blue button above right) and when the book is launched I’ll be giving away at least three copies away to current Twitter followers during its launch month.

All this is just the beginning and I’ll be rolling out new ideas and new blog themes all year. Over at JoeFaraceShootsCars, my automobile photography blog is going to have lots of original new posts including guest posts from outstanding car photographers such as John Adams. Look for his out-of-this-world post on January 4th.
